“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Rom. 12:10
We are going to be celebrating Father’s Day on June 16, 2024. One of the most important roles for us as a child is to have a provider, guiding and loving father in our lives. This makes it so easy for us to understand and have a personal relationship with our heavenly Father. When we have a great earthly father, it is truly something to celebrate. My Father was the picture of this verse. He was a business owner and taught all of us kids our go-getter, hard worker, and ethical work mentality. He was always showing us how to love each other and our neighbors while honoring them. So it was very easy for me to see a loving heavenly Father. However, so many of the families at the Christian Caring Center are single parent households–female head of households and a growing number of male head of households. For these households, we have the picture of our heavenly Father adopting us into His kingdom and all Christians being devoted to such families in brotherly love. Paul tells us not mere emotion but love in action. Most OF US HAVE LEARNED HOW TO BE COURTEOUS TO OTHERS--HOW TO SPEAK KINDLY TO AVOID HURTING THEIR feelings and appear to take an interest in them. We may even be skilled in pretending to show compassion when we hear of other’s needs or to become indignant when we learn of injustice. But God calls us to real and genuine love that goes far beyond being hypercritical and polite. Genuine love requires concentration and effort. It means helping others become better people. It demands our time, money, and personal involvement. No individual has the capacity to express love to a whole County, but the body of Christ in our County does. By partnering with the Christian Caring Center, we look for people who need our love and look for ways together on how we can love and honor our community. We, together, as the body of Christ give the basic human needs of food, clothing, shelter and case management all while honoring them and their families. So this Father’s Day honor and celebrate your earthly Father and honor someone who has stepped up in your life through the body of Christ. But most of all worship and honor your heavenly Father!
The Christian Caring Center has continued to be a blessing to individuals and families all because of your generosity and agreement. We are grateful! Thanks so much for your continued support and prayers as we all minister to the kingdom of God.
