Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts

that I think toward you, saith the LORD,

thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give

you an expected end.

Today I want to talk about our Village Thrift Shop

(VTS) and the impact it has on our community, clients and support of all the other

ministries of the Christian Caring Center. This is probably one of our least famous

programs of the Christian Caring Center, but one of great importance. The Shop

is located at 87 Hanover Street, Pemberton and is currently open Monday thru

Friday from 10 am to 5pm and Saturday from 10 am thru 3 pm. We accept

donations every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10 am to 2pm only due to low

staffing of volunteers. When we established the VTS it was to increase room for

the VTS and Outreach Center, to meet a need in the community and to provide job

training to clients. The building we bought also had 2 apartments attached that help pays the mortgage and

taxes We rent these apartments to low income households so it’s a blessing to them and

to the Christian Caring Center Our great manager, Randy was a widower and single dad

on welfare when we met He was volunteering at the Christian Caring Center, and we

witnessed his skills and offered him the job of VTS Manager when it became available

So, it is very easy for Randy to minister to customers and clients as he has known feast

and famine The VTS is able to meet the needs of our clients that need clothing and

household items We even have a small food pantry available on site, etc We can supply

a voucher for our clients who have had house fires or are moving into an apartment from

homeless situation We have a large community of retired military and 3 senior citizens

housing complexes, etc in that area This month Randy cut prices 50 70 off clothing and

shoes for back to school Our clients have the dignity of going into a shop and purchasing

good clothing and shoes for their children at prices they can afford Beyond making the

impact to Randy’s household, taxpayers and clients, the funds that are over the expenses

all go back into the ministries and the other 11 programs of the Christian Caring Center It

is a double blessing! The above scripture, Jeremiah 29 11 gives us such comfort And

knowing that He’s already figured it all out gives me ammunition enough to keep taking

action toward our ministry We heavily depend on you for your donations of slightly used

clothing, shoes, blankets, sheets, towels, curtains, small household appliances, household

goods, dishes, glasses, knickknacks, jewelry, toys, books, etc These items make such an

impact on the lives of our customers and clients If you can, please consider donating time

to sort through the items If you have one day a week, a month or just an hour, it would be

so wonderful and helpful We have just installed a HALO system ultra violet light) in our

HAVC that kills all air born germs, including COVID, for everyone’s protection We thank

God for each one of you!

Abiding

in Him,

Madelyn
