From Brokenness to Restoration: Celebrating 43 Years of Undeserved Kindness at the Christian Caring Center

Everyone faces moments when life feels overwhelming, especially when burdened by mistakes and hardships. The truth is, we all fall short of the standards we set for ourselves and those set by God. Romans 3:23-24 reminds us, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” This message of grace and restoration lies at the heart of the Christian Caring Center’s mission, which has been a beacon of hope for 43 years.

This year marks a special milestone—not only for the ministry but also personally for me. My son Jason turns 50, a living testimony of God’s goodness and restoration. Our journey from homelessness and despair to hope and healing reflects the power of undeserved kindness. This story, and many like it, are why the Christian Caring Center continues to serve with compassion and faith.

The Reality of Falling Short

Life can be harsh, especially when we face the consequences of our own choices. For many, falling short of God’s standard means more than just a mistake—it can mean losing everything. When Jason was just 1 ½ months old, his father left us, and we became homeless. It was a cold October night, and I remember the fear of trying to keep a baby warm in a car. At that moment, I felt utterly alone and overwhelmed by shame and hopelessness.

Yet, even in the darkest times, God’s undeserved kindness was at work. My parents, moved by God’s love, welcomed us back into their home. This act of kindness was not something I earned or deserved—it was a gift that began my journey toward restoration.

The Power of Undeserved Kindness

The Christian Caring Center was founded on the principle of showing kindness without judgment. For 43 years, this ministry has shared the love of Christ with those who feel broken and lost. Many of the mothers and families who come through our doors carry stories similar to mine—stories of pain, mistakes, and hardship.

During the four years I relied on welfare, God used people around me to show kindness that I did not deserve. This kindness helped me heal piece by piece. It is this same spirit that the Christian Caring Center embodies today. We do not judge; we offer forgiveness and compassion, just as Jesus did.

Sharing Testimonies of Hope

One of the most powerful aspects of this ministry is hearing the countless testimonies of transformation. Mothers who once felt hopeless now share stories of renewed faith and strength. These stories remind us that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace.

For example, a young mother who came to us after escaping an abusive relationship found not only shelter but also spiritual support. Through prayer, counseling, and community, she rebuilt her life and now volunteers to help others. This cycle of kindness and restoration is what keeps the Christian Caring Center alive and thriving.

The Role of Forgiveness and Compassion

Jesus’ interaction with the woman caught in adultery in John 8 teaches us a vital lesson. He did not condemn her, nor did he ignore her sin. Instead, He offered forgiveness and a call to change her life. This balance of truth and grace is what guides our ministry.

We recognize that judgment belongs to God alone. Our role is to extend forgiveness and compassion to those who come to us. This approach creates a safe space where healing can begin and lives can be restored.

How You Can Be Part of This Journey

The Christian Caring Center’s work depends on the kindness of many people—volunteers, donors, and supporters who believe in second chances. You can make a difference by:

  • Volunteering your time to support outreach programs

  • Donating resources to help families in need

  • Sharing stories of hope to inspire others

  • Praying for those who are struggling and for the ministry’s continued impact

Every act of kindness, no matter how small, contributes to a larger story of restoration and hope.

Moving Forward with Faith and Hope

As we celebrate 43 years of the Christian Caring Center, we remember that every story of restoration begins with undeserved kindness. My personal journey, from homelessness to healing, is just one example of how God’s grace transforms lives.

This ministry stands as a reminder that no matter how hard we fall, restoration is possible. The love of Christ reaches into the darkest places and brings light, healing, and new beginnings.

Let us continue to share this message and extend kindness to those who need it most. Together, we can build a community where forgiveness and compassion lead to lasting change.
